October 2020 income report: How I made $557.98 With a Brand New Blog.
Welcome to my first ever blogging income report! My October 2020 income report will show you exactly how I made $557.98 on a brand new blog.
I can’t believe I’m about to share how I made ACTUAL money from a blog I started just a few months ago.
First of all – why am I even sharing my income with you?
My blogging journey actually started 3 years ago. I created a blog in college and spent years (and lots of money) on it and never made a single penny.
Flash forward to this past summer and I started seeing income reports from other bloggers show up on Pinterest and Youtube. I found people my age and younger who were making 10, 20, and even 30k+ PER MONTH with their blogs.
I decided to go all in and learn everything I could about starting a money-making blog. And now, only a few months after launching this website, I’ve made $557.98 in a month just off of this blog alone.
Reading income reports from other bloggers was really helpful when I started out. Not only was it insanely inspiring, it also gave me a glimpse at where my stats needed to be before I could earn serious money with this website.
I’m sharing this income report to inspire you and show you that anyone can make money blogging!
Previous Income Reports
I officially launched this blog and made it public at the beginning of July 2020.
This is my first published income report, but this is how much money I made in the past 3 months since launching this blog:

- August 2020: $6.92 (2091 page views)
- September 2020: $17.75 (17,585 page views)
Now let’s take a look at my blogging income from this month!

Blogging Expenses
It doesn’t take very much money to start a blog but there are some minor expenses. This month I spent a little more than usual because I decided it would be worth it to invest in another online course.
Bluehost: $10.42 (I signed up for the more expensive plan and did a bunch of add-ons which I do NOT recommend. You can get most of the security features as free plugins on WordPress)
Tailwind: $9.99 (HIGHLY recommend Tailwind if you have a blog)
This month I also invested in a new Pinterest course that cost $99 at the time of purchase. I’m a HUGE believer in online courses and this one was amazing. I learned a ton about keywording my Pinterest boards and pins and scheduling efficiently.
The first time I started blogging I didn’t invest in any courses and my blog totally flopped after over a year of working on it. This time around I decided to invest a little bit more upfront to have all the knowledge right away and it completely paid off.
TOTAL EXPENSES: $119.41
What Worked This Month?
October was an insanely busy month for me. I got engaged, moved, and had a huge project for my regular job.
With all of that chaos, I didn’t work on my blog as much as I would have liked to this month. Somehow I was still able to publish 5 posts this month though.
However, the reason October was such a huge traffic month for me was because I planned ahead. I wrote halloween posts in July and August because I knew they would take a little time to rank on Pinterest and search engines.
And it definitely paid off! This post that I published on September 2 went completely viral and brought in thousands of views this month.
I highly recommend planning your content a few months in advance. If you write a Christmas post in December, there’s no way it’s going to rank in time for the holidays.
Blogging Goals for November
- I REALLY want to hit $1000 in November. Honestly, I have no idea how much money I’ll make in November. With the holiday season coming up I’m hoping my income will go up a little bit but I honestly have no clue!
- Publish at least 6 blog posts. October was absolutely insane but I was still able to get 5 posts up. I’m hoping that I can get at least 6 posts up in November since it’ll be a little less crazy than last month.
- Figure out how to get more email subscribers. My main email opt-in is a college packing list. Obviously not that many people are interested in downloading this when it’s not back-to-school time. In November, I’d like to figure out another opt-in idea.
I’ll be sure to update you in my November income report and let you know how I did on my goals for the month!
I still can not believe I made $557.98 from a brand new blog! I hope this income report will inspire you to start your own blog.

Hi Yasmin! I HIGHLY recommend this course for Pinterest. I’ve been able to get my Pinterest impressions to over 8 million by using these strategies!
Thank you for this inspiring post! Do you have any tips on how to grow a Pinterest account to over a million monthly views per month? For example, how often do you post a new pin, or is there a specific strategy that works for you? It’s amazing that you achieved so many pageviews in such little time! Congratulations!!!
Hi Lin! Thanks so much for reading this and taking the time to respond. I recently took this Pinterest course and it totally changed the game for me. I was able to grow my Pinterest account so much by using the strategies in it :).
